Caring for the trail -Code to Off-Road Cycling

Plan Ahead

Always carry a map and know how to use it

Ensure that someone knows where you are going

Keep you bike in good working order

Carry enough food, water and spare parts for your ride

Avoid riding alone on long trips

Do not expect to rely on your mobile phone

Leave No Trace

Take your rubbish home - Pack it in, Pack it out

Help protect our water supply, use the toilets on the trail

Camp only in designated sites along the trail

Ride with Respect

Stay on the trail, avoid riding on sensitive natural areas

Protect the trail, avoid cutting corners, braking or skidding to minimise widening and erosion

Keep your tyres clean and help prevent the spread of Dieback

Share the Trail

Be courteous to other trail users

Keep left wherever possible

Approach other trail users with caution, ring your bell at least 30m before passing

Remember, your safety is our concern but your responsibility

Camping and Accommodation

The trail has been designed to pass through a town at least every second day, to make re-supplying easy and to give you a range of accommodation choices.

There are five purpose-built campsites between Mundaring and Collie. Campsites are provided a comfortable day's ride apart, about every 35 to 40 kilometres, between towns. These campsites are designed to accommodate the individual needs of cyclists and include a bike shelter and a bike repair area, as well as providing the basic necessities such as a campshelter (sleeps up to 25 people), bush toilet, tent sites, picnic tables and a water tank.

The Munda Biddi campsites are designated as fuel stoves only. The main reasons for excluding open fires is to reduce the trampling of sensitive forest areas and reduce the risk of wildfires.

Other accommodation sources

Alternative accommodation can be found in the towns along the trail. For more information see the Munda Biddi Foundation's Guide to Accommodation and Services.

The Department of Conservation and Land Management is designing and planning the trail in consultation with the Munda Biddi Trail Foundation, the Department of Sport and Recreation, the Western Australian Mountain Bike Association and other representatives of the cycling community. (See Support & Sponsorship .)
